Jeri Garfield

Study Coordinator, The ORCHID Study

Jeri is a Diné scholar, fierce Indigenous advocate, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. She is of the Towering House People clan, born for the Salt clan. Her maternal grandparents are the Folding Arms clan, and her paternal grandparents are the Red House People clan. She is passionate about maternal child health, LGBTQ+ health, Indigenous peoples' rights, and Native representation in academia. 

Jeri is part of the 2022-2023 PREP@UA cohort, and serves as a Research Technician for the ORCHID project. She is grateful to be with the RENEW team to learn and grow as a researcher to address the relationship between opioid use and hormones among mothers in postpartum stage. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family, volunteering her time to community, and attending cultural activities.
